My research interests center on the cell communication events that underlie normal and abnormal physiology. Current projects in the lab are examining the molecular underpinnings of skeletal development; age-related loss in bone and skeletal muscle mass; and the pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension. My research group is also active in developing biotechnology tools and improving bone grafting technologies. We carry out this work in concert with a large international group of collaborators. My trainees participate in the Bone & Mineral Research Group at Marian University, of which I serve as the Director.

In addition to performing original research, I am active in the synthesis and transformation of research through writing scholarly reviews, editorials, and service to professional societies.
