I am an educator-scientist who seeks to teach, discover, and lead. I measure my success by the outcomes of my students.

My career path is characterized by inspiring mentors who encouraged critical thinking and my development as a team-oriented individual. I seek to instill these same qualities in my students and research trainees as an educator-scientist.

In my current position, I am deeply invested in establishing Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM) in the higher education marketplace as an institution known for rigorous evidence-based instruction, innovative research that addresses real-world problems, and meaningful service to the community. Here, I serve and lead the university in varied capacities and initiatives. However, I ultimately measure my success by the outcomes of my students.

At MU-COM, I am the content expert for numerous topics related to molecular endocrinology and musculoskeletal physiology in the organ systems-based, integrated medical curriculum, in which I frequently utilize active learning techniques and case studies. I also regularly integrate students into my biomedical research program so that problem-based research is used as a teaching technique. I am passionate about best practices for hands-on STEM education and creating a culture of research at research-limited institutions.

I bring these same motivations to my service of the greater scientific community in numerous service commitments to the American Society of Bone & Mineral Research; as a Councilor for the Indiana Physiological Society; and as the Chair of the Cell Biology Section of the Indiana Academy of Science.
